In this short report Rob tells the story of a doctor testifying before a school board deciding on mask mandates for Fall ’21 students. What is interesting isn’t so much the scientific evidence presented by the experts supporting that masks don’t work, and are unnecessary for these children – its more about the school board’s mind-set. Didn’t matter what “scientific” evidence was presented as they had already made up their “collective mind”. No need to question authoritative directives that are “truth” in the face of counter-factual science. A perfect demonstration of Paradigm Paralysis.
The real point of this presentation, is that it doesn’t really matter where you stand (your paradigm) on masking kids or not. The point is to question authority when something seems wrong and don’t blindly accept someone else’s paradigm being shoved down your throat. The truth matters… right? You hear that line all the time, but are you willing to defend it. Lets KNOW the truth (about everything), and accept the possibility that our truth (the one we so vigorously defend) may not be THE truth, and have an open mind to opposing views. Vigorous debate is good. Science is good. Lets just tell the truth. And when we learn we were wrong, embrace the new knowledge and move forward.
